A Eulogy for Margaret
We gather today to celebrate Margaret, a mother, teacher, friend, and the person who could make an ordinary Tuesday feel like an occasion. She had a way of noticing people and making them feel at home.
I think first of her kitchen: the yellow table, the pot of tea, and the way she listened while her hands were busy. Whether we brought her good news or a broken heart, she made room for us. Her advice was rarely elaborate, but it was always enough: a reminder to be kind, to keep going, or to call when we got home.
Margaret carried that same care into her classroom. Former pupils still tell us that she made them feel capable. She believed every child had something worth saying, and she gave them the patience to find their voice.
We will miss her laugh, her apple pie, and the steady comfort of knowing she was there. But the love she gave us has not ended. It lives in the way we care for one another, gather around our own tables, and make time to listen.
Thank you, Margaret, for teaching us that the smallest acts of love can become a life's greatest legacy. We will carry you with us, always.
